BSA National Chairman Visits San Francisco Sea Scout Base – August 20, 2022
Sea Scout Ships Corsair (22) & Viking (100) were honored to host Dan Ownby, BSA National Chairman, on Saturday, August 20.
The scouts took the Chairman out for a sail in the San Francisco Bay on Viking and everyone had big smiles on their faces! Mr. Ownby gave some of the scouts special edition Philmont neckerchiefs with pancakes on them! He told a story about hiking up a mountain with pancake ingredients to cook for many scouts, which inspired the design. Then, Mr. Ownby sat down for a conversation with the scouts about their experience in Sea Scouting and about the many opportunities, worldwide, that scouting provides. Some scouts were surprised to learn that there are scout troops all over the world.
What an inspiring experience for everyone to learn more about all of the programs encompassed in Scouts, BSA. Looking forward to more collaboration between Scouts, BSA and the Sea Scouts.
