Alameda High Adventure Open House
March 26, 2023 – 2:00pm – 4:00pm
The Alameda based Sea Scout Ships Seafox, Ship 9, Makai, Ship 700 and Maritime Explorer Club 700 are hosting a joint open house at their vessels. Troops are invited to visit and experience first hand the High Adventure Opportunities at Sea Scouts, the original BSA High Adventure program founded by B-P himself.
Sea Scouting offers huge opportunities to troops, additional leadership roles are available for their youth, traveling by boat to Angel Island or other destinations, earn aquatic Merit Badges outside of summer camp, go on summer cruise with a Ship – it’s less expensive than camp – and participate in Coast Guard Auxiliary training such as Safety at Sea in August at Yerba Buena Island.
Troops can form a “Sea Scout Patrol” of their Scouts who have graduated 8th grade and fully train and participate in the four regattas which occur each year in Golden Gate Area Council.
The next Regatta is at the Martinez Sea Scout Base, 7 North Court St., Martinez, CA on April 1st at 8am-5pm. Regatta events include Knot Tying, Rowing, Ring Buoy Toss, First Aid, Scuttlebutt, Breeches Buoy, Bo’s’n’s Chair, Rope Climb, Drill, and more.
